FOOD ACCESSIBILITY PROGRAMS

AVAILABLE AT THE VERONA DOWNTOWN FARMERS MARKET

  • Shop local and save with the Verona Downtown Farmers Market's Market Dollars program! Market Dollars are a unique currency that can be used to purchase goods from any of our vendors at the market. If you don’t carry cash, we do an exchange of market dollars!

  • Access fresh, healthy food at your local farmers market with Wisconsin's Food Share Program! This program helps low-income individuals and families purchase nutritious food through the use of electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards. Many farmers markets across the state now accept EBT cards, making it easier for those on a limited budget to buy fresh produce, meats, and other food items. By using your Food Share benefits at a farmers market, you not only support local farmers and small businesses, but you also provide your family with access to high-quality, locally-sourced food. Visit your local farmers market today and learn more about how you can use Food Share benefits to improve your health and wellbeing.

  • Get more value for your money with Dane County's Double Dollars program! This innovative program doubles the value of FoodShare benefits when used to purchase fresh produce at participating farmers markets and grocery stores in the county. For example, if you spend $10 of your FoodShare benefits at a participating location, you'll receive an additional $10 in Double Dollars to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables. Not only does this program help low-income individuals and families afford healthy food options, but it also supports local farmers and businesses. Don't miss out on this opportunity to stretch your food budget and improve your health. Visit a participating location today and start earning Double Dollars!

  • Access fresh, healthy food for you and your family with the Wisconsin Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program! This program provides low-income pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5 with nutritious food and nutrition education. WIC participants can now use their benefits at the Verona Downtown Farmers Market to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as other locally-sourced food items. By using your WIC benefits at the market, you not only support local farmers and small businesses, but you also provide your family with access to high-quality, nutritious food. Visit the Verona Downtown Farmers Market today and learn more about how you can use your WIC benefits to improve your family's health and wellbeing.

The Farley Center is home to Verona’s “Farm Incubator Program”, where a lot of our vendors grow their produce. Through the farm incubator, aspiring farmers are supported with land, tools, education, and marketing assistance. This is Dane County’s only farm incubator. All production is Certified Organic through Midwest Organic Services Association.

You can learn more about the Farley Center in our “Giving Back” section or click the logo to go to their website.
